The Teller dials up grant for new Web site
by ANTHONY QUIRINI n Ravalli Republic
Come next year, the Teller Wildlife Refuge will have a new Web site design thanks to a $25,000 grant.

The Valentine Foundation awarded the grant to the private nonprofit to help it build a new Web site with the goal of reaching a broader audience on a global basis.

The refuge launched a new logo earlier this year, “The Teller,” which is part of its push to redesign its Web site with upgraded images, communication and a defined mission statement.

“The grant came at a perfect time and will play a significant role in upgrading our image and communicating our message on the web,” Dan Walker, executive director of Teller Wildlife Refuge said. “The biggest benefit is part of the support of our re-branding effort and not only to be able to reach out to the local community, but to a greater audience worldwide. We are off to a very healthy and fresh new start.”

Spiker Communications of Missoula helped to land the grant, something it had been working on for the past six months, according to a press release. Wes Spiker, of Spiker Communications, became a Teller Board member in July and helped usher in the new logo and the grant.

The new Web site will be a critical tool in helping communicate Teller’s conservation mission to both local and national audiences, the press release says.

The refuge accomplishes its mission through stewardship and enhancement of the land, water and wildlife resources, landowner outreach, with dedicated support from hundreds of volunteers. Each year, groups of school, youth and landowners, as well as the community, benefit from conservation and educational programs held at The Teller.

It funds its conservation and educational mission through local, regional and nationwide support. Donations come from an array of grants, corporate sponsorships and individuals n all of which are vital to fulfilling and furthering its mission.

Teller is near Corvallis adjacent to the Bitterroot River and includes 1,200 acres. For more information on Teller, or to peruse its Web site, go to www.tellerwildlife.org/
